The Consortium of Boston Area Children’s Theatres is a nonprofit organization that creates magic through collaboration between Boston-based children theatre companies. Each summer, CBACT sponsors the Childrens Theatre Festival- a full day of theatre meant for kids of all ages to enjoy – including shows and interactive workshops. The festival is a unique opportunity for young members of the theatre arts to experience live performance by their peers, and meet new members of the Boston theatre community. The 2009 festival was held at the Arsenal Center for the Arts and hosted by the Watertown Children’s Theatre. Participating theatres included Concord Youth Theatre, Riverside Theatre works, Arlington Children’s Theatre, The Young Company at Stoneham Theatre, and the UnCommon Theatre Company. Rob Hopper, from the National Youth Theatre, said: Not content with rallying the states together to launch the American Revolution, now Boston is leading the way toward uniting youth theatres.. The mission of CBACT is: To enhance access to resources and audiences. To share ideas, build upon, and ensure one another’s success. To broaden the rewarding and long lasting effects of children’s theatre on both the public and participants. To provide a network for and foster collaboration between Boston based children theatres. We’ve been to more than a few wine tastings in our show’s short history, but few have been as unique and memorable as the Vino & Verde event at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. The museum is a one-of-a-kind Venetian style palace with over 2500 pieces of artwork and a breathtaking garden courtyard that would provide a spectacular yet intimate backdrop for wine tasting and conversation. We spoke at length with the museum’s director of visitor learning, Jennifer DePrizio, to talk about a little about the history of the museum and how this amazing wine event was conceived and designed. We also spoke with Peter Crowley, the chef and owner of the Gardner Cafe and sommelier Trevor Nelson, who together designed a delectable array of wines and passed appetizers for the event. With a setting as special as the Isabella Stewart Gardner museum, the Vino & Verde event was a beautiful evening for wine and art lovers both. The event was also a wonderful tribute to Ms. Gardner herself whose presence was most certainly felt…
