The talented teens in the Satellite High School Program at the Milwaukee Art Museum created an original hip-hop track in the Museum galleries, inspired by Jim Campbell’s “Taxi Ride to Sarah’s Studio” (2010), with the guidance of H2O Milwaukee Music’s Dwight and Marquis Gilbert! For one hour, teens recorded rythms and melodies, scratched on turntables, and connected music theory with visual art. This is one of their final tracks. We were so thrilled to have excellent Christian musicians like him coming over to our church for the symposium. Christopher Garven is Organist/Music Director at Church of the Good Samaritan, Paoli, Pennsylvania. In January, he becomes the new Organist/Music Director of Saint Peter Anglican Church, Tallahassee, Florida. Chris is a graduate of Philadelphia Biblical University, with degrees in organ performance and Bible; and of Westminster Choir College where he received a master’s degree in organ performance studying with Joan Lippincott and Robert Carwithen. As a part of the Westminster Symphonic Choir, Chris has performed with The Philadelphia Orchestra under Riccardo Muti, the New York Philharmonic under Robert Shaw, and the New Jersey Symphony under Hugh Wolf. He has performed as organist on several occasions for the American Guild of Organists of which he has served as Dean for the Knoxville chapter and is active with the Philadelphia chapter. He has appeared as guest organist at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church and has performed at several American Choral Director’s Conventions as accompanist for Cedar Springs Choirs.
